Montessori Teacher Education Center

The Montessori Method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori (1870 – 1953) at the turn of the twentieth century in Italy. Dr. Montessori’s educational model is based on her keen observation of the child. This observation of the child resulted in the development of her theory of the child's nature upon which her educational practices are based: The Montessori Method.

Who We Are

Who We Are

MTEC is a Montessori teacher training program that provides Montessori teacher training courses at the Infant & Toddler, Early Childhood, Elementary I, and Elementary I-II Levels since 1980. The American Montessori Society (AMS) issues the teacher credentials to our graduates.

How We Do It

How We Do It

Our highly experienced faculty provide lectures, curriculum demonstrations, and student practice with the Montessori curriculum materials. The Curriculum is organized around specific topics and presented in an organized sequence of presentations. Multiple sets of Montessori materials are available for student practice and mastery under faculty supervision.

What We Do

What We Do

All five levels of training are provided during the Summer Intensive Schedule in June & July, Monday through Friday, and the Year-Round Schedule on weekends September through June. The student teaching/practicum is a nine-month paid internship at a Montessori school following the academic coursework.

Shaliny Maddipatla

Applying for the Montessori Lower and Upper Elementary teaching courses at MTEC was one of the best decisions of my whole life! MTEC has highly experienced teachers who are dedicated to delivering their love and experiences along with techniques to every student. These courses are quiet intensive, yet full of fun and joy! Most importantly, I received great help to improve myself while learning how to present so many materials to my students.

MTEC Teacher
Supriya Bhardwaj

I enjoyed having so many hours of hands-on practice with the elementary materials. Manuals describing all the materials and how to present them was so helpful. I loved the MTEC community, the deep knowledge and compassion of the instructors, and the organized, thoughtful progression of lessons and tasks we worked on. The instructors were phenomenal. I felt very much like their goal was to develop a successful me, and a more meaningful relationship in me to my Montessori world.
